La Creciente started in 2019 when Esteban Hecker moved from the city of Buenos Aires to the delta and surprisingly started meeting other musicians that had also moved into the delta, in search of a new lifestyle. Together, they started working on Esteban’s arrangements, with the idea of creating a new tango. A tango that is rooted in history and tradition, but that also brings in the nature, the green, the river, the winds, and the ups and downs of the river tides.
Back in 2018 Julia reconnected with a lifetime friend, Esteban Hecker. Fascinated with his music and his project she started tracking the steps of La Creciente so that she could share their story with the world at large. The documentary captures the orchestra’s rehearsals, concerts, and their journeys along the delta rivers. Through the following of their daily lives in the delta and interviews along the way, the documentary tells the story of a group of musicians that for different reasons decide to leave their tango careers and their night time lives in Buenos Aires for a more calm and green lifestyle away from everything.
